Fitness Program
The fitness performance enhancement
program is a comprehensive evaluation and training session, offering
"one-stop shopping" for beginners in a private, one-on-one
setting.
The fitness performance enhancement program gives beginners confidence
to use gym equipment, and provides a personalized exercise regimen to
maximize aerobic, strength and flexibility status.
Identifying Goals
A questionnaire identifies your
current activity level, the time you are willing to commit to exercise,
and your fitness goals.
An experienced physical therapist will then help you identify goals for
your fitness routine. Some people want to get in shape to lose weight,
while others see it as a way to help with joint stiffness. Still others
simply want to look good l.. Physical therapists will work with
you to devise a step-by-step plan to help you reach your goals.
Musculoskeletal Assessment and
Education
A thorough musculoskeletal assessment
is essential to determine your condition and to identify areas of
strength and weakness, including flexibility, strength, range of
motion, stability and aerobic capacity.
During this evaluation, the physical therapist also reviews the
questionnaire, incorporating your unique motivations and goals into the
overall assessment.
If you have limited experience in a gym, the physical therapist will
educate you on the use and purpose of various exercise equipment, and
help you formulate a unique exercise prescription tailored to your
goals and needs. . These personal consultations are conducted in the
privacy of a one-on-one session.
Exercise Prescription
You will receive a goal-based
exercise prescription with recommendations for aerobic exercise and
strength, flexibility and stability training. This written program is
an important resource and guide for ongoing training.
